301 redirect – new website name – traffic SEO?
301 redirect – will website name change affect ranking? SEO question?
SEO new website
Currently if you search in google.co.uk for ‘personalised cards’ you come up with our website on the first page. We are changing the entire website name, if somebody typed in our previous company name, would the search result still be as good with a 301 redirect?
e.g. (fake sites used here) www.brilliantbirthdaycards.com has a new website with a 301 direct to www.bestgreeting.com – Google Analytics show that people already know our name and to find us type the keywords "brilliant birthday cards" (the name of the company) but if we changed to bestgreeting, if people typed in "brilliant birthday cards" would we still be at the top of the page with keywords that no longer apply to the name of our company?
E.g. – Should I have a title tag: ~brilliant birthday cards-rebranded as bestgreeting.com~ and have description, meta description and keywords mentioning both sites?
